  1. Hello, Take your highest Kw hrs used in a month and use that as a gauge.

  2. Question for you....we are in process of getting a generac 20KW installed. Our house is 1800 square feet - I want the entire house hooked up. Someone mentioned that it seemed like a big unit for my house.....what size would you recommend? Thank you.

  3. Thank you. There could be many reasons why you are having an issue. I could only speculate to first check any loose wiring. I would contact a qualified and certified Generac service company. We install them but do not service them as far as their internals. I can provide you with a company in PA who handles the warranty work. Please PM if you would like their contact information or read below as there is a tech that posted on here.
    Thanks for watching

  4. Our 17KW Gererac was installed after Hurricane Sandy. During the last month we had 2 power outages. It started and ran well but stopped and immediately restarted about 6 times during the run time. Our service tech said it was probably caused by a brownout situation where power was coming on and off. Today our remote is flashing "no radio signal" . Will appreciate any info you have. Thank-you for your videos as they are very informative. Bud

  7. Hi Matt, you would have to look at the specs from Generac on that model for that information. I think they are rated by gallons per hour of fuel use at a 50% load. Great question!!
    Thanks

  8. How much does it cost to run per 24 hours at say, 40% average throughput? Even a ballpark estimate would be great; thanks!

  9. I am generac tech.. I troubleshoot and repair generac generators. first is your engine coming up to speed if so. this problem is one of two things. 1, brushes could be bad. 2, the controller could be out. the controller is not receiving a signal from the ac output. no ac output and you will get an undervoltage alarm.

  10. Yes, its already wired. Just plug in.

  11. so could you wire that outlet on the generator so that you can use it at anytime?

  13. Yes, it is a problem with the gen itself. You may need to call a certified tech for the repair. I can't remeber what the cause was (sorry) but i have had to deal with that before.
You can try resetting the alarm,( if you have not) and see if that helps. There is not much on how to fix them because Generac only wants certified techs to fix them.I am an installer but not a certified tech.
    Thx

  14. Have you ever run into a situation where there is "under voltage" stop alarm. I have a 20 Kw Generac and it is giving me this alarm and will not run for longer than 5 seconds. Any ideas. It is propane fuelled and ran fine in the summer but recently produced this alarm when the temperatures dropped to minus 15 degrees Celsius.

    Thanks.

  16. What Gauge Wire did you use? 4/4 Wire for 20KW gen which is really 18KW on NG

  17. Now that is a super feature. Mine just has a set of ten breakers in the switch-over box. But for my use ,that's all the protection i'll ever need .

  18. Does it shut off automatically when the grid comes back on?

  19. Thankd Bob, for the price you are right, you can not beat it for what they provide in a time of need. Generac offers alot of different models. We only use Generac beacuse of their reliability as well as very worker freindly. This particular one has a load shed system on the ATS. It will juggle certain loads to protect the generator from an overload if the draw gets to high. That is what the green lights are for on the ATS switch. Very cool system.

  20. Thank you for watching. It is a a very good reliable system. Protable or stand by, the times call for people to have a generator for back up power.

  21. Very nice job Larry . It looks I identical to my 8 KW Generac . But there's a two cylinder under that hood . Those are very reasonably priced too.

  22. If she comes with it, I'll take one.

  23. "Automobile motors are very reliable" yeah, unless it's a Chrysler. LOL

I think I could believe that about the air cooled models.

But the liquid cooled ones use mostly Mitsubishi engines, and the larger ones with the V8 engines, use the 5.4 liter Ford engine.

  24. On the larger liquid cooled items, that is true. Why re-invent the wheel? Automobile motors are very reliable. On the air cooled items, they are 100% Generac built.

  25. Too bad Generac lies about making their own engines. Most Generac standby generators use Mitsubishi engines.
