A quick walk around and start up of WEN 5500 and Generac 7550 EXL. Both very nice generators.

  1. Yes. Well since I had the generac out already I didn't feel like I needed the wen out too. But then again I wanted to make sure the wen worked. Plus once I start using a generator, or any engine I guess, I need to start maintaining it too. Test starts and oil changes etc.. But I am glad I took it out. Turns out with this hurricane sandy a family needed it so I let them borrow it. Thanks for watching!

  3. Thanks for commenting. I don't think you need to ground it but it is best way. As for the WEN i dont know if there is a design consideration that without proper ground it will be damaged but i guess its possible. I've operated generators without grounding them You can drive a grounding rod into the ground and attach a wire from the rod to the ground screw. its a bit of a pain but its safer. The wheels came with the unit but I did need to install them into the proper holes...not too bad.

  4. I have one that I bought in '04. Never started it, do I need to ground it? I see you had the same switch on the 5500. It says ground before starting. how about that wheel kit. Did you add it or did it come with it?
